This rare and unusual clock case, known as a Tete du Poupee, first emerged during the 1680's and survived until the 1720's. It's name derived from it's doll's headshape, with its sinuous form replacing the angular lines of the pendulum religieuse. One of the beauty of these cases were their elaborate Boulle inlays - the technique so succesfully developend by Andre Charles Boulle (1642-1732), Ebeniste du Roi.

Very large and rare Boulle bracket clock with matching wall bracket. Beautifull red tortoiseshell and brass in nice condition. The technique of brass inlay into tortoiseshell or vice versa is credited to the French Maitre eboniste Andre Charles Boulle in the 17th C.

A mid 18th Century French Roccoco counterparti and inlayed coloured horn boulle bracket clock on original bracket by Straubhar a Strasbourg. The tortoiseshell and cut brass case elaborately decorated with coloured horn (red, yellow and green) and mother of pearl in the form of flowers with brown tortoiseshell foliage case. 14-day silksuspended movement with anchor escapement with outside countwheel, striking on a bell with matching wall bracket. 110 cm x 43 cm x 20 cm.

Ogee Case with Cherub finial. Boulle: form of marquetry combining metal, usually brass with tortoise shell. Named after Andre-Charles Boulle, the French Clock Maker (1642-1732). Andre Charles Boulle was employed for many years at Versailles where the mirrored walls, the floors of wood mosaic, the inlaid paneling and the marquetry furniture in the Cabinet du Dauphin were regarded as his most remarkeble work.
