A pretty old Paris porcelain case by artisan Jacob Petit, celebrated for his magnificent and desirable porcelain wares of superior quality and design. Jacob Petit (1796-1868) owned one of the most important and well-known porcelain factories in France, becoming one of the major producers of Rococo ornamental ware during the 1830s. The movement was made by Le Roy freres.

Nice porcelain clock with flowers, signed L. Marti from Paris France, one of the brothers from the Marti et Cie firm. They were well known clockmakers in the mid 18th C. In 1860 it's known that the premises were situated at Le Pays de Montbeliard and in 1863 Marti worked with twe other well known makers Roux and Japy, in promoting their clock movements.

Neo-Rococo taste, the clock case of architectural rocaille form surmounted by a figure of Father Time flanked by dragons spouting flames, all supported by scantily clad male and female figures, he in the guise of Hercules, the clock face supported from below by an open-mounted grotesque mask, the base with two frolicking putti, raised on four scroll feet. KPM was founded in the first half of the 18th C. and, after financial difficulties, was taken over by Frederick the Great in 1763. The design for this clock is characteristic of Alexander Kips, artistic director of the Manufacture. The exuberant modeling, rocaille scrolls and putti typical of the Neo-Rococo style are fully exhibit Kaiser Wilhelm II (1859-1941) is known to have favored this style, decorating the Neue palais in the fashion. The clock movement is signed: Lenzkirch. The Lenzkirch factory was founded by Eduard Hauser. Hauser learned many skills, such as precision mechanical works. He studied clock making in England, France and Switzerland.
